Copyright Infringement Amnesty
We have spent the last 11 years of our career and alot of money, building New Zealand Karaoke music because of our love of kiwi music, and because the "big time" karaoke manufacturers didn't see the merit in producing small runs of karaoke discs for New Zealand.
Over the years piracy has been on the increase and the end result for us is that we only receive around 10% of the sales we would receive if every person that had our Sundown product had legal versions. Because of this we have stalled production of any future karaoke albums indefinitely, as we are no longer prepared to put the time and money into more karaoke songs, when we struggle to break even on costs, let alone make money.
Up until the end of March 2011, the Police have denied their responsibility in prosecution of criminal copyright infringement of our product, which has given the infringers the "green light" with no repercussions.
WELL,THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE!
From April 2011 the Police now, at our request are compelled to investigate and prosecute clear cases of criminal copyright infringement of our Sundown material i.e. Illegal copying, downloading, storing, selling or using our copyrighted material constitutes criminal copyright infringement.
As a result of our losses through theft of our product:
We started collecting evidence and information over 3 years ago, regarding bars, karaoke operators, and bands that are and have been using the Sundown Karaoke material illegally throughout New Zealand and Australia.
In light of this, we have decided to grant a waiver of prosecution by way of a 3 month amnesty.
We are issuing a 3 month amnesty to everyone starting Friday 8th of April 2011. This amnesty may not apply
to cases already in the court system.
For those who have Sundown Karaoke songs in any format whether it be on cd's, harddrive, CAVs machine or whatever and you do not have the original legal karaoke discs and proof of purchase, contact us NOW,
to avoid prosecution. When our evidence shows you have had and used our material illegally , by simply deleting or destroying the material will not stop prosecution as the infringements have already taken place.
THIS IS YOUR ONE AND ONLY CHANCE.
Sundown Karaoke copyrighted songs includes all the albums / songs that appear with the Sundown logo, as well as all the songs that appear with the Laserdirect info. Sundown Karaoke is the copyright holder for the following: Laserdirect NZ 1 - 7 and Sundown TKC 1 - 20, Dennis Marsh album, John Rowles album, Capital Karaoke range and Down Under 1 and 2. This amnesty DOES NOT apply to any other karaoke brands.
If any of the following front screens appear on the tv monitor at the front of the karaoke songs (regardless of the song title), then Sundown Karaoke owns the copyright on those songs:
